I have decided to share a few of my favourite things based around food that you can buy in UK supermarkets. We are getting more and more choice in the supermarkets and when you start out on a gluten free diet it is difficult knowing what to try first. I have tried a lot of things in the past so you don't have to worry - sit back and enjoy reading my carefully compiled list of my favourites.

1. Nairn's Gluten Free Choc Chip Biscuits

These biscuit breaks come in a packet of 4 and are easy to pop in your bag for a mid-morning or afternoon snack on the go and to work. I like to have mine with my lunch as something sweet or simply with a hot drink as they make for the perfect addition if you’re feeling peckish. These biscuits are good when making the biscuits base for a cheesecake recipe or my favourite is to use them for the banoffee pie base. Buy them from most supermarkets in the UK.

2. Genius bread

I have 2 favourites which I flip between the triple seeded loaf and the white loaf. I've tried a lot of gluten free bread. They are both a good sized loaf compared to others. I think they make for a perfect sandwich and are great size to make a gluten free bread and butter pudding. Buy them from most supermarkets in the UK.

3. Chicken and Mushroom Crisp Bake (M&S)

A friend from church gave them to me as they said gluten free ‘Made without wheat range’ and about to go out of date. I first tried them I thought they were really tasty. They are good to have in the freezer for any time you need a quick and easy meal. I can just pop one of them in the oven for 25 minutes and I like to serve them with some baked beans and a handful of sweetcorn. They’re in M&S Food Hall (UK).

4. Egg mayo and watercress sandwich (M&S)

These have become my favourite sandwich to have in the M&S cafe if they’ve got them in. A few years ago I wouldn't have tried egg sandwiches but I tried one of my mum’s egg sandwich, it was really nice. Before I liked the M&S mature cheddar and chutney sandwich but I do not seem to find these any more so I had to find a new favourite.

5. Sandwich thins

These are great as they make for different type of sandwich alternative. They are deliciously different way to enjoy the softness of bread. I like them as they are good to travel with as you can choose to toast, or fill them which make them easy to prepare for lunch. Buy them from most supermarkets in the UK.

6. Crumpets

These are great to have for breakfast or lunch. I like to have my mine with butter and jam or with butter and a few slices of cheese. Crumpets are soft and fluffy and delicious. I like to toast mine for a few minutes however you can also use the grill. Buy them from most supermarkets in the UK.

7. Chocolate chip cookies (Sainsbury's)

On holiday, I often buy a packet of these as a treat. I like them as a different texture to other cookies. This cookie is crunchy with a good amount of chocolate chips, and you get 8 biscuits in a packet which I think is a good amount. My favourite are from the supermarket Sainsbury's (UK).

Do you have any favourites? I would love to know and if you have a favourite supermarket. Next in the series I will be talking about my family favourite meals in what we eat in a week. If you have any other suggestions for the series of would like to know, please get in touch.

Thank you for reading.

My list of essentials for any gluten free cupboard

When I was diagnosed with coeliac disease aged four, I had to rely on my mum and dad to make sure I was having the correct foods. This was back when there was little understanding of gluten-free diets and the supermarkets poorly stocked freefrom foods. This experience growing up has taught me the essential cupboard ingredients to get by just fine. The last thing you want is to find yourself...

My fabulous favourite five gluten free bloggers

In the early stages of my coeliac journey there were not many gluten free bloggers. However now, there is definitely an increase of bloggers. I started to follow gluten free bloggers around a few years before I started my blog, finding them mainly on Facebook. To help you while going through the journey of re-adjusting habits such as food shopping...
